When a serial or other continuing resource ceases publication or when you create a new record due to a change, close off the old record. The extent to which each element is completed depends on the issues that are in hand and the information that is available (see the chart in the CONSER Cataloging Manual, Module 16, page 20).
- Change the Publication Status (DtSt) in the fixed field from c to d.
- Add the ending date to both the Dates fixed field element and the 260 ‡c.
- Add a 785 uniform title succeeding entry in subfield t, not subfield a. Do not transcribe initial articles.
- Remove your library's 599 field (latest issue received), if one is present.
