Anime is neither a Library of Congress subject heading nor a genre heading. Use as appropriate for the item:
655 _0 Animated television programs ‡z Japan(form heading for anime TV shows from Japan)655 _0 Animated films ‡z Japan(form heading for anime films from Japan)650 _0 Animation (Cinematography) ‡z Japan(topical heading for works about anime)
It is acceptable to use the local genre heading in the CCS database:
