Add Awards notes in the MARC 586 field as directed in Bibliographic Formats and Standards. This awards note becomes another access point to the bibliographic record.[1]
The most important awards to include in the bibliographic record fall into two different categories:
- Book awards
- Entertainment awards
Only well-known awards are recommended for this field:

Libraries are encouraged to add this note when an award winner is announced if it is not already in the bibliographic record.
