'''Contents notes''' (field 505) provide additional access to material contained inside books or sound recordings. Catalogers are recommended, but not required, to use enhanced contents notes.  See [http://www.oclc.org/bibformats/en/5xx/505.shtm Bibliographic Standards and Formats] for examples.  If you are adding or enhancing a contents note in the CCS database, it is also good practice to do the same with the OCLC record in Connexion, to benefit users internationally. OCLC users with Full cataloging authorization are able to do this without Enhance authorization.

Add and enhance '''contents notes''' whenever possible to improve patron access.

==Procedures==
== OCLC Connexion Macro for Enhancing the 505 ==
Complete contents notes (first indicator "0") are required for works containing up to 100 titles, but are optional for works with more than 100 titles.
You can use a macro in OCLC Connexion to enhance the 505. This macro adds in the appropriate subfields to the 505 tag. This macro is in the ''NikAdds'' macro book. To enhance the 505, run the macro called ''Joels505''. To install the macro, download the macro file that corresponds with you version of Connexion. At this time, there is only a macro book for OCLC Connexion v. 2.63.
