Presenter etiquette
When volunteering to present a workshop for CCS:
- Note what skill level the workshop's audience should be. This should also be clearly stated in the email advertising the workshop, in order to assist library managers to know which staff member(s) should attend. Examples:
- Data entry personnel and processors
- Those who work with the serials module
- Those who work with the acquisitions module
- Acquisitions staff
- Catalogers
- When possible, e-mail a draft of the workshop handout(s) and/or presentation file to the SCRAP committee at least 1 week before the workshop. The committee will review it to make sure the information is accurate according to national standards and CCS' local rules. No changes should be made to the handout(s) & presentation file after that point. This should help prevent incorrect information being passed to workshop attendees.
- When possible, limit the number of examples given (especially the number of screen shots of full MARC records), in order to lessen audience confusion.
- Any presentation files should be e-mailed to the cats@ccs list (not cats-l) after the workshop.
- Put the workshop's title, presenter's name, and date on the title slide of the presentation file.
