DO NOT FOLLOW THIS RULE.
This rule has been abolished or is obsolete, but is kept in the manual for historical purposes.

Usage

Add this template around a block of text to surround the text with a warning box that marks it as being an obsolete practice that is important enough--typically due to the frequency with which one will still find records in the local database that follow it--to maintain for historical reference.

In addition to inserting a warning box, it also automatically adds the page to the Obsolete practices category.

If an entire page is obsolete, use the Obsolete template instead.
