Anime is neither a Library of Congress subject heading nor a genre heading. Use as appropriate for the item:
655 _0 Animated television programs ‡z Japan(form heading for anime TV shows from Japan)655 _0 Animated films ‡z Japan(form heading for anime films from Japan)650 _0 Animation (Cinematography) ‡z Japan(topical heading for works about anime)
Until Anime is established as a legitimate LCSH or GSAFD heading (even if only locally) do not use it. Please make your public service staffs aware of this. There is a cross-reference in our catalog from this term to the allowed headings.
Note that ANIME is a legitimate value for Sirsi item category 1, so if you use that item category 1 value for your items, you can also search for your anime holdings that way.
