Anime is neither a subject heading nor a genre heading. Use as appropriate for the item:

  • 655 _0 Animated television programs ‡z Japan (form heading for Anime TV shows from Japan)
  • 655 _0 Animated films ‡z Japan (form heading yet to be used in our local catalog)
  • 650 _0 Animation (Cinematography) ‡z Japan (topical heading for works about Anime)

Until Anime is established as a legitimate heading (even if only locally) do not use it. Please make your public service staffs aware of this.

Note that ANIME is a legitimate value for item category 1, so if you use that item category 1 value for your items, you can also search for your anime holdings that way.
