Local subject headings are not nationally authorized, and are usually coded in fields 690 or 691.
Local genre headings are usually coded in field 655 with second indicator 7 and ‡2local
in the CCS database, rather than field 695. Unlike local headings in fields 690 or 691, local genre headings are under authority control.
Local subject headings and local genre headings must be approved by the CCS authorities librarian. If you are considering using a local subject or local genre heading other than those specifically mentioned below, first search for an appropriate authorized form and, if found, use that instead. If you cannot find an authorized form, then contact the authorities librarian.
